Svend Andersen is an absolute pioneer of the Independent Watchmaking scene - he left Patek Philippe’s grand complication atelier in the 80’s to start his own brand and co-founded the AHCI in 1985. Today I am happy to offer 2 magnificent and very early pieces from his collection.
The ‘Communication II’ is the evolutionary model aka ‘The Columbus’ - made in 1992 as a limited edition of 500 pieces to commemorate the voyage across the Atlantic. Housed in a larger 35mm 18k yellow gold case, this model is a little more sophisticated with an additional crown to set the world time.
A most stunning contrast with gold case and enamel blue dial - this example is also in truly sublime, unpolished & perfect condition and with its original buckle.
